Over the last two years, JSO has found a new media platform to promote its messaging enforcement: social media. Since 2025, JSO has begun partnering with content creators to showcase the behind-the-scenes operations of JSO and in-depth interviews with the city's sheriff.
Jalicia Lewis
Jalicia Lewis is a fifth-generation Jacksonville native raised in a low-income working class family. She has previously worked as a community organizer with the Big Bend Voting Rights Project, a group created in the wake of Amendment 4 in Florida to register previously disenfranchised voters. Today she continues to advocate against police brutality as a volunteer with the Jacksonville Community Action Committee, and for climate justice as the Engagement Lead with the Jacksonville Climate Coalition.
Outside of organizing, Jalicia is also a poet and spoken word performer weaving in themes of poverty, Black womanhood, and mental health in the Deep South. You can find her sharing her works with open mics across Jacksonville.
