For a while now it's been clear that we need people-powered movements to create sustainable change.
That means that we need the people—
and that's where you come in.

Recently, we've faced a lot of political turmoil, and you've had our backs as part of the Scalawag community. Because of y'all's support, we want to invite you to our first-ever virtual Giving Plan Workshop on the evening of November 17th as a way to deepen your giving to causes that are working to bring about justice in this very unjust world.

This two-hour-long participatory and action-oriented virtual workshop is co-facilitated by New Legacy Lab and Scalawag.

What is a Giving Plan?

A Giving Plan is a time-bound roadmap to determine where, how much, and how you want to give and mobilize the resources (both financial and non-financial) available to you, to co-create and resource the world you believe needs to exist.

What will happen during the workshop?

Over two hours, you will: 

  • Clarify your vision, values, & criteria for saying YES
  • Define a giving goal $$$
  • Choose organizations and amounts to resource
  • Build your giving muscles  through conversation and connection with other donors committed to Southern Narrative Change
  • Take home a well-honed strategy for your 2026 giving!

Who is this workshop for?

The Mid-Year Giving Plan Workshop is for ANYONE who wants to resource social and environmental justice through their annual giving. This workshop will be particularly beneficial to you if:

  • You are interested in resourcing Southern Narrative Change
  • You identify as having access to wealth and/or resources you want to mobilize towards collective change  
  • You want to give more but aren't sure where to get started and/or you're feeling stuck in your current giving
  • You want to get ahead of year-end giving requests and chaos
  • You're seeking  community, structure, and accountability for your giving in 2026

Cost: This workshop is being offered on a sliding scale of $15 – $55. Please use New Legacy Lab's sliding scale to determine your workshop fee. All workshop proceeds will benefit Scalawag.
